Our Values
At the City of Richmond, we value: People, Excellence, Leadership, Team and Innovation.
These values are at the core of what we do. When we uphold our values, they govern the way we make decisions; guide us as we interact with our colleagues, customers and community; and result in a cohesive organizational culture that is respectful and inclusive. By living these values, we ensure that our actions consistently reflect our shared commitments.
We are committed to the people in our organization and community.
We demonstrate care by fostering a welcoming, respectful and safe environment where everyone feels a sense of belonging and purpose. We invest in people and empower them to excel and achieve their goals. By embracing diversity, we build meaningful relationships and create a thriving culture that is resilient and centred on community.
We pursue continuous improvement.
We take pride in our work, seek to learn and grow, and provide high quality programs and services for our community and customers. Our commitment to excellence is demonstrated through our accountability and high standards. We do our best every day and strive to exceed expectations by being efficient, effective and responsible in all that we do.
We are all leaders.
Our leadership is rooted in accountability, empathy, and open communication, which empowers each of us to thrive as our authentic selves. As an organization and as individuals, we lead by example and make decisions with integrity to achieve our common goals.
We succeed together.
We recognize the importance of collaboration, building on each other’s strengths, and embracing diverse perspectives to have the greatest impact on the organization and community. We support one another by building trust, acknowledging contributions and celebrating successes.
We pursue forward-thinking and creative solutions.
We enhance our work and service delivery by creating an environment where all ideas and approaches are welcomed. As an organization, we take the lead to proactively adapt to the evolving needs of the community and rise to new challenges.
